Italy: Guide in Como City in one day

Como is a city located on the south end of the lake. Its city center consists of narrow streets, magnificent views and historical monuments. It is the most important city in the region for the entire economy near the lake. However, it is not the most picturesque because around the lake you can find small villages that look like out a romantic movie shot in Italy.

As you can see on the map, around the lake there are villages that will leave you in love. To visit you can take a boat trip from Como city or follow the roads around the lake. You can not miss the city of Cernobbio, Lagglio or Bellagio.

We arrived at Como from Lugano, Switzerland by train. The train station are relatively close to the lake and the city center. We start our tour in the lakeside gardens, passing a Memorial and the Voltian Temple which has an interesting exhibition by Alessandro Volta who invented the batteries.

Continuing around the lake we come to the Como-Brunate funicular. The funicular takes the visitors to the Brunate area where you can have a great view of the city and the lake. Next to the funicular its a good restaurant area.

The city center is located right in front of the lake and here you just have to get in and get lost in the narrow streets full of history. Do not miss Porta Torre on one of the boundaries of the Old Town or the San Fedele Basilica located in the middle of the Old Town.
