A seaside walkway between Salgados Lagoon and Armação de Pêra city on a 2-mile route in the Algarve.
In the Algarve, Portugal, a walkway connects two municipalities, crossing one of the few green and wild areas still existing near the ocean. The lake area of the Salgados lagoon and Alcantarilha water course is thus connected through a walkway next to the dunes and beach.
The Armação de Pêra Walkway
Named Ecovia do Litoral Sul, this 2-mile walkway passes through Praia Grande beach and connects Armação de Pêra city via a 225-meter pedestrian bridge over the Alcantarilha water course.
Along the route, you can observe the dunes and their characteristic vegetation, as well as the Salgados lagoon and the many birds that live there.
At Salgados beach, if you wish, you can continue along the beach, rejoining the walkway that runs along Galé beach to the famous restaurant and beach resort Pedras Amarelas.
The new Armação de Pêra Walkway connects the city to the existing and old Salgados walkway and trail.
When visit this walkway
The route can be visited all year round. In the summer it will certainly be used by many to access the beaches near Armação de Pêra, however, be aware of the hottest hours and days.
