Tucked away in the serene landscapes of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, Fuseta Island (Ilha da Fuseta) is one of the Algarve’s best-kept secrets. With its soft golden sands, calm waters, and laid-back vibe, it’s the perfect escape for families, couples, or solo travelers in search of tranquility. Located just off the coast of the small fishing town of Fuseta, this island offers an unspoiled alternative to the more tourist-heavy Algarve beaches.
Separating the Fuseta from the ocean is the Ria Formosa lagoon, which is not very extensive in this area, and a sand barrier. In this is located the beach of Fuseta Island.

Fuseta Island in past owned a small houses, but it was devastated by a thunderstorm in 2010. Currently, Fuseta Island only has infrastructure to support the visitants. It has an extensive beach, the waters are not very cold, calm, translucent and excellent for children because it is a sea that does not sink. During low tide, small lakes are formed that can delight the little ones.
