This section of this trail starts at the parking lot of Barranco do Velho’s old church, and begins with a relatively flat area, passing through Eira de Agosto’s windmill, and goes down to a very attractive hill to Carrascalinho.
After that we walk in the Rio Seco stream that marks the beginning of the Algarve’s barrocal, where the landscape changes into largely agricultural land. Going along walled paths and old small scattered houses, we reach vilage of Salir. In Rio Seco we had enjoyed a small lunch in the shade of the trees listening to the sound of water running quietly in the stream.
The view of the Algarve hills, the land full of marigolds and the landscape at some points of this path was stunning. Undoubtedly, is a route to be part of the best moments of the vacation in the Algarve.

Algarviana Route or in Portuguese Via Algarviana is a pedestrian long distance path with 300km that starts in Alcoutim, near the Guadiana River, in te boarder with Spain, and ends at the Cape of S.Vicente in Sagres, going through Algarve inland by the moutains of “Serra do Caldeirão” and “Serra de Monchique”. It is implanted, mostly, on forest ground, with interesting natural values, and passes by several small rural villages. It is divided by 14 sections with different dificulty grades.
