Seven Suspended Valleys pedestrian Route in Algarve
If you are looking for pedestrian paths along the beach, this is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful on the Algarve coast, because there literally pass over the famous cave Algar do Benagil. The course is approximately 6 km (12 km round trip).
We started the course of the Seven Suspended Valleys on the beach of Vale de Centeanes next to the Hotel Carvoeiro Colina Sol.
Along the route, we can observe the characteristic fauna and flora, rock formations of various forms, and impressive caves and sinkholes. Sinkholes are vertical natural wells that connect the surface of the top, limestone and create underground galleries, where sometimes you can hear the waves or where underneath there are small beaches.
There are several wooden structures placed in strategic places on the trail of the seven suspended valleys that will allow you to rest and observe the nature in its purest form. The first of these structures is next to the first valley. Up to the end of the route there will be six more valleys, these seven valleys being the origin of the route name. The trail will also pass near a beautiful lighthouse.

There is also the passage through Benagil Village and the upper part of the Benagil cave where we can peek into its interior.
The Benagil cave is one of the most famous on the Algarve coast and is where most tours along the coast and through the caves take you. It is huge, has an interior beach and two accesses to the water. In this post there is more information about the Benagil Cave.

When visit
We visited the trail of the seven suspended valleys during the spring on a day that was not too hot. It will also be recommended during the autumn but during the winter, rain and strong wind can make it dangerous to move around the cliffs. During the summer and on hot days it will not be a very pleasant walk so it is recommended that it be done in the morning or at the end of the day.
How to visit
You should wear comfortable clothes (be also accompanied by the bikini or shorts to be able to enjoy the beaches), backpack with water and food, sunglasses, sunscreen.
There are parts of the rails that are not easy to do due, essentially when crossing the valleys so you should bring proper hiking shoes.
